The worst five minutes of any game night are the ones spent watching six people install something. Rewind Party skips them entirely: it is a browser game, so the host reads out four letters and everybody is already playing.

Why the download is the real killer
An app install is not one step, it is five: find the right app among the knock-offs, wait on the download, open it, dismiss the permissions, make an account. Multiply that by everyone in the room and the mood is gone before the first round. Half the group gives up and goes back to their phones — and the ones who did install it now have an app they will delete next week.
A browser game asks for none of that. The barrier is a URL and four letters, which is short enough to shout across a room and short enough to type wrong twice and still be playing inside a minute.
What Rewind Party actually is
It is a music timeline game. A clip plays for whoever is up, they guess roughly when it came out, and they slot it into their timeline between songs they have already placed correctly. Right guesses stay and score; wrong ones get thrown out. First to ten wins.
The reason it works as a party game rather than a quiz is that everyone can hear the song and everyone has an opinion, so each turn is really the whole table arguing while one person sweats over where to drop the card.
Works in a living room or on a video call
Because every player uses their own screen, the game does not care whether you are all in one room or spread across four time zones. Someone shares the code in the group chat, everyone joins, and the video call becomes the table.
Late arrivals are not punished either — anyone who joins mid-game waits as a spectator and is dealt in automatically when the next game starts, so you never have to choose between restarting and leaving someone out.
