A clip plays. You never see the title card, the artwork or the date — you just hear it and commit to a year. Rewind Party is a free guess-the-year music game that runs in any browser, for one player or ten.

Guessing a year is harder than it sounds
Most people can name a song in two seconds and then miss its release year by a decade. Production style is a liar: a track can sound unmistakably 1985 and have come out in 1979, and a song you associate with a specific film is usually older than the film. The gap between "I know this song" and "I know when this song happened" is the whole game.
Rewind Party leans on that gap. You are never asked to recall a fact you either have or do not have — you are asked to reason from the sound, the arrangement, the production, and whatever you can dredge up about where you were when you first heard it. Everyone can play, and nobody can coast.
Why placing beats typing
A pure "type the year" quiz has a scoring problem: being two years out feels the same as being twenty years out, and the game becomes a test of memory instead of a conversation. Rewind Party asks you to place each song into your own growing timeline instead.
That single change does two things. Early guesses are forgiving, because there is nothing to slot between. Late guesses are brutal, because a timeline with eight songs on it has nine narrow gaps and only one of them is right. And it makes every turn watchable — the table can see exactly where you are about to go wrong before you let go of the card.
How to start a game
One person taps Create Room and reads out the four letters. Everyone else opens rewindparty.fun on their own phone, types the code, and is in. There is no download, no sign-up, and no host account — the whole setup is over in about twenty seconds.
If nobody is around, the daily puzzle gives you five songs, one attempt each, and the same five songs everyone else in the world gets that day.

Common questions
- How do you play a guess-the-year music game?
- A song clip plays without showing its release year. You decide where it belongs relative to the songs already on your timeline — older than this one, newer than that one — and drop it into that gap. If the real year falls in that gap, the card stays and you score. If not, it is discarded.
- Is Rewind Party free to play?
- Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial and no account. It is funded by optional donations rather than by charging players.
- Can I play the guess-the-year game alone?
- Yes. The daily puzzle is a solo mode: five songs, one attempt at each, and everyone who plays that day gets the same five songs so scores are comparable.
- What years do the songs cover?
- From the 1940s to the 2020s. You can play a mixed deck across all of it, or narrow to a single decade if you want a fairer fight between people of very different ages.
